Instructions
- In a large bowl, mix the 2 cups of Masa Harina and the 1 1/2 to 2 cups of warm water together.
- Be sure the two are mixed well and let it sit for around 5 minutes.
- Using your hands, kneed the ingredients together for several minutes until it becomes a dough.
- Take a piece of the dough and shape it into a golf ball or plum sized ball. Repeat this step until you have around 18-20 balls.
- Preheat a skillet to high heat.
- On a clean surface, place a single ball in the middle of a sheet of wax paper (about 10 inches by 10 inches) then place a another piece of wax paper on top.
- Gently flatten the ball using a rolling pin until it has spread to a diameter of about 6 inches.
- Carefully remove the wax paper from each side and gently place in skillet and let it cook for 30 seconds to a minute on each side. The corn tortilla should be lightly toasted.
- Place cooked tortilla in a dish lined with paper towel or a clean dish towel.
- Repeat this process.
- Once you get the hang of it, you will be able to cook one tortilla while you roll another.
- Fill with your favorite corn tortilla ingredients when ready
