Instructions
  1. Heat oil over medium heat in a soup pot; add onion and mushrooms and cook, stirring often, until softened, about 3 minutes.
  2. Add broth, sweet potato, turnips, and potato, increase heat to high and bring to a boil. Reduce heat to medium-low and cook at a simmer, stirring occasionally, until vegetables are fork tender, about 15 minutes. Stir in milk and cook a further minute.
  3. Transfer in batches to a blender and puree. Pour into a clean pot; bring to a simmer, season with salt and pepper, and serve, topped with the sliced almonds.
