Instructions
  1. Pre-heat oven to 425°F.
  2. Dough: prepare piecrust per box directions & chill for 2 hours (or overnight), wrapped in plastic.
  3. Filling: mix applesauce, cinnamon, melted butter and brown sugar until well combined.
  4. Dived pie crust into 2 pieces.
  5. Place a 2 foot long (approximately) piece of parchment paper on your work area and dust well with tapioca flour.
  6. Place one half of the pie crust onto the parchment. Dust the top of dough lightly with tapioca flour then top with a large piece of waxed paper.
  7. Using a rolling pin, roll the dough out very, very thinly.
  8. When dough is very thin remove waxed paper and spread a thin layer of applesauce over the dough, approximately one-third of the applesauce. Leave remaining applesauce for later.
  9. Using the parchment to handle, carefully lift the paper and begin to fold the edges of the dough, folding over toward center of dough about half way. Re- peat this process on the other side, so the two sides meet in the center, and cover the filling.
  10. Repeat steps 5 through 10 with second piece of pie dough.
  11. Carefully spread remaining filling on the top of the first strudel. Now you have one piece that has an additional layer of applesauce on top.
  12. Holding the parchment on the second strudel, invert the second piece on top of the first (so the fold is down. This is to form a layered effect as the pastry bakes.
  13. Lift the parchment paper with the layered strudel onto a cookie sheet, leaving parchment underneath.
